Help Us Help You Help Us: A Guest Posting Proposal
Helu. You’re reading this because (a) I know you write smart about security, and (b) I don’t think you blog regularly. I have a self-serving offer.
At an average CPC of $2.50, a Google AdWord for “security” would cost you $6,250 for 2500 clicks. We can give you that in a single day, served entirely to security professionals, and all you have to do is write something for us. There are roughly 30,000 CISSPs in the world. Are there 50,000 security professionals total? Then 1 in 3 of them reads us every week.
Any time you’d like, we’d be happy to guest-post something to the Matasano blog from you. We’ll clearly mark the post as coming from you. The contents can include whatever you’d like. You can link back to your own website. You can write a short “teaser” post for a longer post at your own site.
Another way to look at it is this: any time you’d otherwise write a big long comment on our blog, we’d be happy to take that comment and promote it to a full-on post. If your comment is disagreeing strongly with us, even better!. We’ll title the post “COUNTERPOINT:”.
If you’ve been commenting on our blog already, I’m probably sending you this because I feel like your comments deserve to be posts already.
The benefit to you: 80% of the benefit of having a reasonably popular blog to post your thoughts on.
The benefit to us: More smart writing on our blog. Duh?
Additionally:
Your writing will clearly be marked as coming from you. We want people reading our blog. We want you to get credit for your writing.
You can post anonymously (although we’d like some way of putting it in context, like “Director of Security at Fortune 500”)
You can post on behalf of your company. A venue to talk about the cool stuff you do that other people have to pay money can be a tough marketing problem.
You can cross-post to your own blog. You can even use us to post teasers, as long as the teaser is interesting in its own right.
If you hate capitalization and punctuation, you can write like ee cummings and I will copyedit for you (you’ll even get draft approval). Copyediting someone else’s smart writing is easier than writing smart myself.
No censorship or moderation of any sort. Feel free to call us out.
