You got served (more Sony lawsuits)!

Sony has been in a perfect storm of security bad news for over a month now. It all started with a security researcher finding what amounts to the process hiding part of a rootkit in the DRM components of a Sony BMG CD. From there, GPL’d code, a fix that allowed for remote execution, more lawsuits than you can shake a stick at, a local privilege escalation vulnerability, more lawsuits, AV products removing the DRM code, attackers using the DRM to hide malware, oh, and lest we forget, the DRM is evadable using a piece of tape.

Today, it turns out the DRM gets installed even if you say no to the EULA. My personal predictions for the next Sony headlines:

1) DRM Built in Illegal Sweatshop

2) Sony To Charge for Premium Rootkit

3) Sony Admits Wrongdoings, EFF Still Loses Lawsuit

4) Sony DRM Suspected of Armed Robbery

5) CNN Announces CNNsony, a channel dedicated to Sony DRM news stories.
